POOLSIDE
In its infancy the life of a series has many paths to choose from. As choices are made, the options become more limited, the scope more focussed. I often enjoy starting with a very loose plan and letting it develop naturally into a very specific one.
I initially wanted to travel the Balkans - starting in Sarajevo, making my way across to Split, later to Kosovo and back up to Serbia. The series instead evolved around the water of the Adriatic – The Beach, the Swimming Pool. The two locations eventually departed from one another stylistically and became their own series.
There is a very specific feeling to these photographs, one of a sun soaked silence and stillness.
Going on holiday for work will likely make this an ongoing series.
